You can be the most beautiful person in the world, you can be wealthy and famous, but if you don’t feel love, self-worth or peace in your mind it can make you feel ugly and worthless.
You can be on the cover of fashion magazines and be in demand all over the world.
You can be in the movies and be considered one of the most desirable people on the planet.
You can have hit records, sold-out concerts and crowds of adoring fans.
You can pen bestsellers, win the Pulitzer Prize and be known as one of the greatest writers of all time.
You can entertain crowds and make them laugh and cry.
You can be known as someone who brings laughter and joy to everyone.
You can create brilliant paintings or stunning works of art.
It’s not in their beautiful voice.
It’s not in their jokes or their smiles.
It’s not in their good looks.
It’s not in their excellent physique.
And it’s not in the joy and happiness they may show nearly everyone else.
It’s in their eyes.
Only people who have experienced it for themselves will recognize it instantly–that thing behind the eyes that tells a different story.
People may say:
What do they have to feel bad about? They have everything.
Or,
That person wasn’t depressed, they were on top of the world.
Or,
How could someone who is so successful be struggling for sanity within their own mind?
Or,
How could someone who has it all have any problems at all?
It’s understandable. If you’ve never seen the beast yourself, how could you ever believe in it’s existence.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor, famous or not, we all need the same things: love, self-worth and peace of mind. Don’t forget to work hard on these things, too.

A great post JoAnn!! It may be enough to feel gratitude for what you have and who you are and to always meet other people with a smile and a positive mind. “Life always offer you a second chance – It’s called tomorrow”.

That was beautiful, Jo Ann and so true.
This reminds me of an old friend. We were teenagers.Fresh out of high-school. She was the most beautiful girl I ever saw and the saddest person I ever met. I use to call her My Marilyn. I always had a feeling her and Marilyn Monroe had a lot in common.
This one hit home.

I’m glad you liked it 🙂
I’ve had people ask me, “you’re a pretty girl, why do you get depressed?” They don’t understand what depression really is.

I’ve come to learn that if a person isn’t happy with themselves, they’re just truly unhappy. Robin Williams is a textbook example, He strives to make people laugh. He made others happy because inside of himself, he was miserable. And in the case of celebrities, it must be awful because they’re constantly in the public’s eye. People worship them, they’re idolized and after a while keeping everyone happy but yourself takes a toll.

Sure does. Sometimes fame can be like a prison. I think that was the case for Amy Winehouse.
